What is Postimage.org?

Postimage.org provides free image hosting services for forums.

Do you keep or remove EXIF data from uploaded images?

By default, Postimages keeps the original EXIF data embedded in your photos (such as camera model, date, or GPS location). If you prefer to remove this information for privacy reasons, you can enable EXIF data removal in your account settings. Anonymous uploads always keep their original EXIF data.

I need to change an image I have uploaded while preserving the URL. Is this possible?

This feature is available exclusively to Premium users. Upgrade to this account type to replace images while retaining the same URL.

I have uploaded an image anonymously. How can I delete it?

Please find the page in your browser history that loaded right after you uploaded the image in question; the last link in the code box leads to a page that allows you to remove an anonymously uploaded image from our website.

Are the images I upload private? Can I search or view images uploaded by other users?

Only the people with whom you have shared the link to your image can view it. We do not publish uploaded images in a global catalog, and image codes are hard to guess. However, we don't support password protection or similar checks at all, so if you post your image's address on a public web page, anyone who has access to that page will be able to view your image. Also, if you need real privacy for your image collection, Postimages is probably not suitable for your needs; consider using other image hosting services that are geared more toward private image storage.

How long will images remain on the server?

You can upload an unlimited number of images per post, and you will never have to worry about your images being removed due to inactivity.

What is the maximum allowed file size on Postimages?

Images uploaded by both anonymous users and users with free accounts are limited to 32Mb and 10000 × 10000 pixels. Premium accounts are limited to 96Mb and 65535 × 65535 pixels.

How many images can I upload simultaneously?

Users are currently restricted to a maximum of 1,000 images per batch. If you need more than that, you can create an account and upload several batches of images into the same gallery.

How many images can I upload in total?

As many as you like! We do not impose strict limits on our users (except for the restrictions mentioned in our Terms of Use). Some users store and share tens of thousands of images, and we are cool with that. However, disk space and bandwidth are not cheap, so if you use a really large amount of either and your usage pattern does not allow us to recover our costs (for example, if you do not publish your images embedded in links that lead back to our site, thereby depriving us of any potential advertising income from them), we reserve the right to contact you and discuss possible ways to satisfy your needs while allowing our project to make ends meet.

I have removed an image, but it is still accessible via a direct link. Why?

Due to the technical nature of our system, images are purged from the CDN cache within about 30 minutes of being deleted (although it usually occurs much faster). If you still see your image after that, it has probably been cached by your browser. To reset the cache, please visit the image and press Ctrl+Shift+R.

I have selected the "Do not resize" option, but the images I'm uploading have shrunk anyway!

You can open an image's page and click the Zoom button or the image itself to view it in full resolution. After that, if you need the direct link to the image in the original resolution, you can right-click the zoomed-in image and select "Copy image address". Convenient access to the full-res image URLs from the code box is not provided at this time, but it will likely be implemented in the future as an option for Premium accounts.

How do I install the Image Upload mod?

If you want to add our image hosting service to your forum, please install the appropriate Image Upload extension. We are working to support more website engines, so if you do not see yours on that page, check back later.

How can I post images in my eBay product description?

  1. Click the "Choose images" button on the main Postimages page.
  2. Select the images you want to upload in the file browser that pops up. Once you click "Open", images will immediately start uploading.
  3. After your images have been uploaded, you will see an admin gallery view. Click the second drop-down box to the left of the code box and select "Hotlink for websites". If you only uploaded one image, this option will be in plain view instead.
  4. Click the Copy button to the right of the code box.
  5. Open your new listing in the eBay selling section.
  6. Scroll down to the Description section.
  7. There will be two choices: "Standard" and "HTML". Select "HTML".
  8. Paste the code copied from Postimages into the editor.

How can I post images to a forum that doesn't use your plugin?

  1. Click the "Choose images" button on the main Postimages page.
  2. Select the images you want to upload in the file browser that pops up. Once you click "Open", images will immediately start uploading.
  3. After your images have been uploaded, you will see an admin gallery view. Click the second drop-down box to the left of the code box and select "Hotlink for forums". If you only uploaded one image, this option will be in plain view instead.
  4. Click the Copy button to the right of the code box.
  5. Open your forum's post editor.
  6. Paste the code copied from Postimages into the editor. The forum needs to have BBCode support enabled for this to work.
